2018 NCAA MEN’S FINAL FOUR AIR TRAFFIC PROCEDURES
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS
March 28-April 3, 2018
In anticipation of a large number of aircraft operating in the San Antonio, Texas area during the NCAA
Men’s Final Four, the following special air traffic procedures will be used to minimize air traffic delays and
enhance safety: Due to the high volume of air traffic in the San Antonio area, intended arrival and departure
times must be provided to your FBO for, non-scheduled air carrier, IFR and VFR, arrivals and departures.
This will include KSAT, KSSF and KSKF.
Standard FAA traffic management initiatives will be implemented when demand exceeds capacity.
VFR SAN ANTONIO TERMINAL AREA OPERATIONS
Class C airspace requirements apply. Contact San Antonio Approach Control a minimum of 10 miles from entering Class C airspace on the following frequencies: 127.1 arriving from the NORTH thru EAST, 128.05 arriving from the EAST thru SOUTH, 125.7 arriving from the
SOUTH thru WEST, 125.1 arriving from the WEST thru NORTH. VFR arrivals can expect lengthy delays outside San Antonio Class C airspace during peak traffic periods. Formation flights, practice approaches, touch and go operations are prohibited within the San Antonio terminal area. VFR advisory service within the San Antonio terminal area will be on a workload-permitting basis. Class C violators will be aggressively pursued.

AFTER TOUCHDOWN:
After clearing the runway, you will be directed to contact San Antonio Ground on frequency 121.9. Do not stop unless giving way to other aircraft or vehicles. Advise San Antonio Ground of your parking destination.
IFR DEPARTURE
Confirm your departure date and time with FBO upon arrival or as soon as possible. Standard FAA traffic management initiatives will be implemented when demand exceeds capacity.
San Antonio a rea airports NOT serviced by a n Airport Traffic Control Tower, or pilots requesting clearance after hours, may contact San Antonio Approach at 210-805-5516 or on the above listed after hours’ frequencies.
Piston prop aircraft should expect 070 or 080 as a final altitude and request higher altitude with
Houston ARTCC, or Austin Approach, as appropriate.
Turboprops expect 100 or 110 as an interim altitude and request higher with Houston ARTCC.
Note: Please ensure that the correct ICAO format is utilized when filing your flight plan. Flight plans without the correct ICAO RNAV designators will be assigned conventional procedures.

KSAT:
Engine Start-up and Taxi
All departing aircraft contact clearance delivery on 126.7, except PDC/CPDLC equipped aircraft. Advise if IFR or VFR, where you are parked, and ATIS code. Pilots are requested to delay engine start-up until you have your clearance and just immediately before taxi.
DO NOT CALL GROUND CONTROL TO TAXI until you can exit parking for the taxiway.
DO NOT CALL THE TOWER FOR DEPARTURE until you are in the number one position for the runway.
VFR DEPARTURES/IFR PICKUPS
Due to the high volume of traffic, VFR departures should not expect to obtain an IFR clearance within 200 NM of KSAT.
IFR OVERFLIGHTS
IFR overflights below 14,000 feet MSL expect routing to avoid the San Antonio area.

OVERFLOW PARKING AREAS
Due to the large amount of traffic associated with the NCAA Men’s Final Four, the San Antonio International Airport may designate taxiways or alternative ramp areas as an aircraft overflow parking area. When directed to an overflow parking area, please follow instructions.
