Here’s what operators need to know about U.S. Customs and Border Protection availability and procedures at two Minnesota airfields, Baudette Airport and Grand Marais Cook County Airport.
Baudette International Airport (KBDE)
Permission to land procedure
- Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP prior to departure from the foreign airport and at least one hour in advance of the anticipated arrival time
- Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 30 minutes
- If the ETA deviates outside those parameters, you must speak with a CBP Officer to resecure permission to land
Entrance and clearance hours
- Inspection services for the entrance/arrival of aircraft at Baudette International Airport are generally available 7 days per week, 24 hours a day
- Commercial aircraft operators departing the U.S. must obtain an outbound clearance by contacting CBP directly
Inspection process
- A CBP Officer will meet the aircraft on the tarmac to begin the inspection
Grand Marais Cook County Airport (K0G5)
Permission to land procedure
- Pilots must secure permission to land by contacting CBP prior to departure from the foreign airport and at least 24 hours in advance of the anticipated arrival time
- Permission to land is granted with a tolerance of (+/-) 30 minutes
- If the ETA deviates outside those parameters, you must contact CBP to resecure permission to land
Entrance and clearance hours
- Inspection services for the entrance/arrival of aircraft at K0G5 are available 7 days per week, 0800-2200
- Commercial aircraft operators departing the U.S. must obtain an outbound clearance by contacting CBP directly
Inspection process
- A CBP Officer will meet the aircraft on the ramp to begin the inspection
- Please wait with the aircraft until a CBP Officer arrives
- Be prepared to present passports, visas, pilot’s licenses, medical certificates, aircraft registration, and user fee (if appropriate)
