Solar Impulse 2 Completes Historic Flight: History was made today as the first round-the-world solar-powered flight completed its mission.
The Solar Impulse 2 touched down at Al Bateen Airport in Abu Dhabi this morning culminating its 16-month circumnavigation of the globe.
The Swiss pilots, Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg, undertook the challenge to illustrate the aviation capabilities of solar-powered energy.
The journey unfolded over 17 stages, spanning four continents, and covering over 42,000km.
