Flight Operations to Wimbledon 2025 – The Wimbledon Championships get underway in London from June 30-July 13, with qualifying beginning June 23-26.
The prestigious event draws spectators from all over the globe and creating high demand at London Airports.
The village of Wimbledon is situated approximately eight miles southwest of Central London.
Operators can consider a selection of London gateway airports.
- The village of Wimbledon is equidistant between Gatwick and Heathrow airports
- The first and last slots available at Heathrow (EGLL) are 06:00 and 22:40
- Biggin Hill (EGKB) is a good option for private jets as its located just 12 miles/ 19 kilometres from the city center
- EGKB operating hours are weekdays 0630 to 2300 and weekends and Bank Holidays 0800 to 2200
- London City Airport (EGLC) is a good option for light to midsize jets, but parking is limited
- EGLC can provide quick and convenient access to Wimbledon, reaching there within 50-60 minutes by road or via helicopter transfer to Battersea, which will reduce travel time
- Farnborough, Stansted, and London Luton all have adequate runways for long-range executive jets
- Northolt (EGWU) is the airport closed to Wimbledon and requires both slots and PPR
- All flights in and out of Gatwick (EGKK) require prior slot and parking approval and night restrictions are in place
Operational restrictions
Night slots are limited at London airports area during this summer, with no departures after 11pm and 7am.
UK restrictions include ETA’s and ensuring that sGARs are sent 2 hours prior to the aircraft take-off time when travelling in from international destinations.
Between 0500 hours and 2200 hours daily, from 28 June to 14 July 2025, no aircraft is permitted to fly below 1500 feet AMSL within a 0.75 NM radius centered at 51°26’01″N 00°01’50″W.
These restrictions do not apply to the aircraft:
- Operated by or on behalf of a Police Air Support Unit or an Emergency Medical Service
- Making an approach to, or departure from London Heathrow Airport whilst under the control of the London Terminal Control Centre Swanwick, or air traffic control unit at London Heathrow Airport
- Flying in accordance with the permission of the Championships Safety Officer who may be contacted on telephone 07801-570030, or through the Event Emergency Control Room on telephone 0208-971-2430, or through the Police Emergency Control Room (Silver Control) on telephone 0208-971-2666
