Jordan launches Electronic Passport – Jordan officially launches the pilot phase of its electronic passport (e-passport) on September 1, 2025, as part of its national digital transformation strategy to enhance government services.
The new e-passport includes a secure chip for biometric data, features advanced physical and invisible security measures for fraud prevention, and is compliant with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
Citizens can apply for the e-passport through the Sanaad app or the Civil Status and Passports Department‘s e-services portal, with applications processed and delivered by Jordan Post within 72 hours.
Traditional paper passports remain valid, and the e-passport issuance carries the same fees as the paper version.
