The Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix takes place in Spielberg in the heart of the Mur Valley, Austria on Sunday, June 21. Located 50km from Graz, there are 5,200 citizens living in the heavily wooded region. The race will take place at the famous Red Bull Ring motorsport circuit in Spielberg. We’ve compiled some important information for motorsport enthusiasts planning a trip to the Austrian F1 Grand Prix.

Austrian Immigration

Passengers

Non-EU citizens

A passport and visa are required.

Passports and replacing documents issued more than ten years prior to the date of travel won’t be accepted.

Those entering Austria on a one-way ticket who are not holding sufficient funds to purchase a return/onward ticket could be refused entry.

EU Citizens

A passport or a country ID is required.

Crew

Non- EU citizens

A Passport, visa and Crew Member Certificate are required.

A Passport, crew airline ID and EU country ID are required.

An extension of stay is possible for visa exempt visitors.

Austrian Customs

Import regulations

Free import to passengers arriving with goods purchased within the EU which are for personal use only:

Products of animal origin, not originating from an EU Member State, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Norway, San Marino or Switzerland, are not permitted to be imported into an EU Member State, with the exception of limited amounts from Andorra, Faroe Isl., Greenland, Iceland and small amounts of specific products from other countries.

Prohibited: Dangerous weapons such as pump guns or knuckle-dusters.

Export regulations

Free export of:

  • 1000 cigarettes or 200 cigars or 1 kg. of tobacco
  • unlimited alcoholic liquor
  • 1 opened bottle (1/4 l.) of perfume

Same regulations apply for passengers and crew.

Baggage Clearance

All baggage is cleared at the final destination in Austria.

It’s important to manage slot approval requests in advance.

There are no special documents regarding the aircraft or crew needed.

There are no parking restrictions during the dates June 19 – 21.

There is no restriction on the airport schedule.

There is No significant NOTAM.

Location

The Austrian Grand Prix 2015 takes place from June 19 – 21 at the Red Bull Ring site in Spielberg, Estiria, Austria. LOWW Airport is approximately a two hour drive from the Spielberg circuit, in Spielberg Styria. LOWG Airport is closer to the event (88km) but this airport is for domestic flights only.

Transport

Train

Fohnsdorf train station is closest to the circuit, only 5km away.

Knittlefeld Station is around 8km away.

Car

  • Take the A9 from Graz towards Salzburg
  • At the St Michael junction, follow the S36 towards Klagenfurt/Knittelfeld/Judenburg
  • Exit at Zeltweg Ost/Spielberg then take the first left and then left again onto the L503
  • You will need to follow the road down for around 2km then turn right at the exit for the Red Bull Ring
  • Please note: Parking is not available at the circuit but there are free parking facilities around 10-15 minute walk from the circuit.
  • A parking sticker that allow parking in a reserved area is given for every 4 Start-Finish tickets purchased.
