The Quest to Disrupt BizAv with Tech Innovation – Digital transformation is not a buzz word; it is a necessity.  Aviation has always been at the intersection of advanced engineering and strict regulation. Although it thrives on precision, many operational tools have or are quickly becoming outdated, fragmented, and manually intensive. As technology continues to evolve, the industry is now facing the challenge of integrating it into its core operations. This is what we are tackling head-on.
Currently, one of the biggest issues aviators face is fragmentation. When dispatchers, trip planners, and operators rely on siloed systems it results in unnecessary work, miscommunication, and delays. To address this, companies are incorporating more synchronized ecosystems. Some still rely on legacy systems that are slow to adapt, with many just catching up because of the complex regulatory environment.
AI will play a transformative role, particularly in areas like language processing, automation, and decision support. AI’s strength in understanding and generating language can significantly streamline tasks like quoting and customer communication. It is also driving automation and predictability—two key factors in reducing redundant manual labour as well as optimizing fleet operations, including CO₂ emissions.
Trip support and FBO integrations remain some of the more challenging areas in aviation technology. By focusing on deeper integrations through API-first development the industry is moving toward more connected and user-friendly tools. Customers want more integrations, and that’s what they’re getting. Ultimately, integrating technology into aviation operations is about transforming both the customer and employee experience.
I was delighted to host a Forward Discussion at EBACE25 that explored the topic of tech innovation with guest panellists Alex Vernitsky, CEO of Portside, Stefan Oberender, Co-Founder of FL3XX, and Shumaila Batool, our Senior Product Manager. Their expert insight brought this fascinating topic to life. Check it out on UAS’s YouTube channel.
