Proper planning crucial for severe weather operations – Operators are being reminded that proper planning is a critical element of severe weather operations as temperatures begin to decrease.

This follows the disruption of flight operations at Munich Airport due to freezing rain, severe snowfall, and plummeting temperatures.

On Saturday over 700 scheduled flights were cancelled and business aircraft grounded due to 17 inches of snow and temperatures as low as -20 degrees C (-4 degrees F).

Operations at the German airport are now gradually returning to normal.

The situation highlights the importance of reliable, real-time updates and the capacity to make last minute changes in extreme weather conditions.
